January 2018 Team AdvocateMeet Jess Kitchin
In an effort to showcase our amazing team members and allow you to get to know who we are, we are running a “Team Advocate of the month” to show you our bunch of people and celebrate their skills.
So here is our January Advocate….
Tell us about some of your favourite books or movies, and why you love them? (you can talk about one, or a few)
I’ve always been in love with getting engulfed in a good book, and since I’ve finished uni I’ve had lots more time to do this! What I like is broad, but I generally go for fantasy/YA, thrillers or a romance fiction. My #FAVES of all time (so far) in these categories would have to be Harry Potter or Black Mage Series for fantasy, The girl on the Train by Paul Hawkins (her new book Into the Water wasn’t bad either!) or Me Before You and Me After you by Jojo Myers for Fiction.
What’s your favourite quote or poem? Why?
Max Ehrmann’s “Desiderata” has been my favourite poem for a long time. It just brings me back down to earth and allows me to let go and be happy about the simple things. I have it plastered everywhere at home or work to remind me. “With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. “
What are your favourite apps right now?
Currently I couldn’t live without Pinterest and Good Reads. Pinterest pretty much runs my life and I get on there instead of Google most days to find art, food, ideas for work, décor – Everything! Be warned, you can easily spend hours on there without meaning it. Good Reads is a new one I’ve joined recently which lets you find and share books you love, based on what you have enjoyed in the past. You can look up any book and read thousands of reviews, and have “shelves” were you can put all the ones you want to read. Other apps I love are Trello, Spotify and MyFitnessPal.
What is your favourite activity in your current job?
I lurrrve being creative and working on websites and marketing, for us and for our clients. There’s obviously a technical side of things here, but being able to create pages, graphics, adverts, etc feeds that creative part of me. It’s so much fun working with heaps of different businesses to help them succeed in the online space and am blessed to be able to do this day in and out.
What artist, songs or playlist do you listen to when you need motivation?
This is a hard one to answer, as my music taste is extremely broad. Believe me when I say I love just about anything! But, when it comes to motivation, I’ll gravitate to either; a) the old Ministry of Sound albums that came out when I was in High School, b) my very old metal playlist consisting of Rage Against the Machine, Slipknot, Korn and Marilyn Manson or c) anything from the 70’s. Didn’t I tell you it was random? LOL.
What’s your #INSPIRATION… What motivates you to show up at work and ROCK IT?
My #INSPIRATION at work comes from the group of people that I work with. They are passionate, talented and simply the best group of people I know. Being able to rock up everyday to a job I love is something I am very grateful for. I think that is what makes our team and Wardles so different, we’ve worked hard to build that type of workplace that our team, and our clients, really feel like that can grow and be supported in.
